Pete Vere has come up with an excellent proposal on behalf of the victims of Malice MacLie: A day of prayer and fasting. It is entirely appropriate, given the decades of frivolity on the 10th of March -- celebrating what turns out to be nothing but fraud and wickedness. Finally, the day can be directed to the proper response when God and His holy things are mocked -- whether it be the children in His image and likeness or the Sacraments for which He shed His blood.
It also closes the latest novena in which many of us took part, and will arm Our Holy Father to do the right thing in wisdom and justice. Kindly join us in any way you can, as we'll pray that this cancer is eradicated from the bosom of Holy Mother Church.
"Finally, the day can be directed to the proper response when God and His holy things are mocked -- whether it be the children in His image and likeness..."
Beautifully written, giselle--thanks.

It would be a good day to pray for Maciel's soul. It's so tragic that if only Maciel's handlers had had some love for him, the LC/RC members could have been praying for his repentance from May 2006 until January 2008; if only the LC/RC would have listened to the Pope in May 2006 instead of Corcuera and Bannon and Hopkins and Kearns and Reilly, he might have had a change of heart before he died. But there were probably only about 10 of us who both knew and cared.

I also recommend prayer to St. Joseph and St. Bruno (founder of the only religious order never to be reformed). Here are some prayers to St. Bruno that I found on another website:
CARTHUSIAN PRAYER TO SAINT BRUNO
All powerful, eternal God, you prepare dwelling places in heaven for those who renounce this world. We humbly beg of your boundless clemency that through the intercession of our blessed Father Bruno, your Confessor, we may faithfully fulfill the vows of our profession, and safely attain those things you have promised to all who persevere in your friendship. This we ask of you through Christ our Lord. Amen.
O loving Father and glorious St. Bruno, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death!
PRAYER TO SAINT BRUNO
O glorious St. Bruno, whose name I have the happiness to bear and to whom God confided the care of my salvation when, in holy Baptism, He adopted me as one of His children, obtain for me, by you intercession, grace to lead a life in keeing with the spirit of our holy religion. Aid me, charitable protector of my soul, to recover the grace of Baptism which I have forfeited by sin. By your prayers, obtain for me from God the assistance which I need to imitate faithfully your virtues. Protect me against the many dangers of this life, and do not abandon me at the hour of my death. Amen.
St. Bruno, my holy patron, pray for me now and at the hour of my death!
PRAYER TO SAINT BRUNO
O glorious patriarch, holy Father Bruno, look down upon us with those eyes of kindness that so often won men’s hearts. Day and night as of old, thou dost hear in heaven’s court the voices of thy sons upon earth joined in God’s praises, linked with the angel choirs.
Sweet Father, if our voices may reach that Throne of Majesty, we ourselves are not yet come there. Guard and guide us on that heaveward road thou hast trod before us. Thou knowest its dangers; thou knowest our weakness. Be our helper that we may keep unquenched that fire of fervor which thou didst light up so long ago. Then shall we be thy crown of glory both here and hereafter. Amen.
O glorious St. Bruno, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death!
CARTHUSIAN CONFITEOR
I confess to God, to Blessed Mary and to all the Saints, that I have sinned exceedingly through my fault by pride, thought, word, deed and omission. I ask Blessed Mary, Holy Father Bruno and all the Saints to pray for me.
+ May Almighty God have mercy on me through the prayers of Blessed Mary, Holy Father Bruno and all the Saints, and forgive me all my sins and bring me to life everlasting. Amen.
TROPARION
Thy life, O Father Bruno, was resplendent with many monastic virtues. As thou wast unwavering in thy faith to thy last breath, O Saint, pray that we may emulate thy virtues and thereby be found worthy of eternal salvation.

It's interesting to stroll down memory lane, to review the situation we were in one year ago. Nearly one year ago, Father Bannon hosted a town hall meeting with benefactors, and stated "our directors are quietly trying to get in touch with possible victims".
How many of us freshly departed RCs hung onto that statement and truly expected it might happen?
Happy Anniversary, Father Bannon. One year later, I guess they're still trying to get in touch with those victims????

What does he have to say to benefactors THIS year?

RC Survivor -
I heard that call too. I actually honestly had hope because since such a high ranking leader made that statement, I assumed the leadership was working hard on contacting any victims and providing apologies, restitution, compensation - whatever was needed. I was told we did not have to hear about it - that it was private and at first I believed that.
Than I learned over the months that none of the original accusers were contacted and to be patient. I did hear a few sex abuse victims finally got a phone call from Fr A but no compensation for pain and suffering and not even an acknoweldgement that he knew of the ReGAIN lawsuit.
I also assumed if there were any other "families" of Maciel that the LC would be the first to contact them, apologize and provide compensation for whatever they were promised by Maciel and pain and suffering.
Sad thing is that if the LC followed up on this promise - they might be in a much better place today. I would have gladly allowed any of my previous contributions to provide for these victims.
I am with everyone tomorrow for day of fasting and prayer!

Oh and pray for Jo and everyone else confused by the hurtful place the betrayer created.

If March 10th is a day of fasting for the victims can we celebrate March 15th, the ending of the visitation, as feast? A feast in celebration of the beginning of the end of the LC/RC!

March 15 is supposedly the target date by which the Visitators should wrap up their work and give a final report. But keep in mind that it's not etched in stone, and that their report is strictly for the Pope's benefit.
The only outcome of the Visitation that will public is whatever action the Holy Father decides to take. And even some parts of that may not be made public (see suppression of the 4th vow).
In any case, people shouldn't expect any big LC related announcements from Rome next week, and probably not for quite a while after.

Looks like Jo has removed her blog. Poor woman. I really hope she comes to the truth soon.

I might add that the longer the Visitation process goes on, the likelihood of strong papal action against the LC increases.
Last year, after Rome chose Maciel's "feast day" to announce the Visitation -- zing! -- the LCs in our area assured the RC ladies that the whole process would be over by June 2009. The Pope would likely offer "help" to the LC leadership in this "challenging situation" and enable them to move forward with their mission.
Nope.
Instead the Visitators have put in 9 months and counting of significant work. This isn't how it plays out if the intended result is a few minor tweaks and an exhortation that the LC and RC "must grow."
Also, while I still expect the Holy Father's ultimate action to be something other than total dissolution, it should be noted that if something along those lines is contemplated, the Pope might be expected to consult post-Visitation with the relevant Curial offices and bishops conferences (Mexico, US, maybe Spain). That will take more time.
So be patient, folks. Time is not the Legion's friend in this process. They expected and desperately wanted it wrapped up months ago.

Speaking of the LC and time, almost exactly a year ago the pseudonymous Legion priest Fr. Changobeer wrote his prophetic commentary about the situation:

"You can friend request her on facebook"
Deleting a blog is a fairly good hint that she's not in looking for a discussion. Your prayers might be more helpful.

I'm with those who don't think it's a good idea to "friend" Jo; she'd then have access to YOU, and therefore the LC would have access to lots of private information about you and your family and friends. There's no need to help them in their quest to ruin the reputations of all the anti-Legion people.
Posted by: Jeannette | March 10, 2010 at 08:21 AM
Jeannette -- I agree. That's why it was never a good idea to send "petitions" into the stratosphere (to Regnum Legion people) advocating "reform".

You People have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. It amazes what an easy victory you give to the father of lies (and for those who are uneducated as most of you seem to be) this means the DEVIL. I am not RC but without the fruits from this movement (aka: individuals who have been a martyr unto themselves and who have lived fully and truly) I would NOT KNOW GOD AND THE ROMAN CATHOLIC FAITH. You fail to remember that GOD BRINGS GOOD OUT OF ALL THINGS even the MOST horrid sins! There ARE individuals who have participated in the movement and still do including some Legionaries and Regnum Christi Women who are TRULY SAINTS and what is SO remarkable is that they are not "BRAINWASHED” and live authentically as human beings who are filled with the sweet love of Jesus Christ. If any of you truly proclaim yourselves Catholic I would consider taking in all realms, every aspect including the fact that it has brought people to Jesus Christ and this should be your ultimate goal: to preach the GOOD NEWS and not commit slander and calumny as the blog is perpetuating. I will continue to pray for all those who are apart of such treachery and hope that you can come to see the truth of good, evil, and above ALL God's desire to bring good and truth upon this earth so that the human race, all the souls that he loves so dearly, can come closer to him and experience HIS LOVE IN FULLNESS.
