This afternoon, I'll be on NPR talking about the LC/RC Movement. It will be a twenty-minute segment roughly between 1pm and 1:30. My guess is that you can stream it live online (especially since some local NPR stations follow the music format during the day). If there is a link to the segment provided afterwards, I'll post it, and I beg your intense prayers/sacrifices so that I can clearly make my case. God's most holy will in all things.
UPDATE: Prayers so deeply appreciated, thanks. It was 1pm Eastern time (is there any other??) and here is the link. (Good news, I think, was that the interviewer was more passionate than I was, so I came off as perhaps more calm than I would have otherwise.)
UPDATE II: from the trenches --
On the subject of the numbers, Jim Fair just reported to our local newspaper that there are 200 to 300 RC members in our city. There never have been that many, even at its peak.
UPDATE III: sample of feedback from NPR audience:
Arnie Arneson hit the ball out of the park on Thursday with her interview with a former member of Regnum Christie - got the info, was very considerate and polite but still held her feet to the fire - ever so gently. Well done.
Giselle, can I have your e-mail, please? Thanks.

High 5's to you and lots of prayers going your way.

Anyone know what time zone G should be referring to? I am listening now and it doesn't seem like a show that would be discussing this topic.

I'm assuming Eastern time ... listening too and it's Morning Edition right now. Seems the right program to me, but of course nothing so far ... :(

Looking forward to hearing it. Got stuck behind a zillion old people, slow as turtles, shopping at Walmart, and I offered that up for the interview.

The podcast is now up. http://www.wgbh.org/897/programDetail.cfm?programid=855#

Giselle, thank you for that interview. You did very well. And I am extremely grateful that you did it. This podcast will go out to many people.
Many, many blessings.

Great interview, but Arnie asks a very good question at the end....
"They never defrocked him [Maciel]. How could that be?"
As a rank-and-file Catholic, I have to say that nails it.
For me, the overwhelming desire "not to cause scandal" creates more problems than it solves. If MM had been defrocked back in 2006 then I don't think we'd be where we are today.
Rather than quietly sending him off to a life of prayer in order to spare the pain it would cause the Church and LC/RC, is it any better to be looking at the same pain now almost 5 years later? How many more lives have been wrecked in that time?

This is a cult, this is a cult, this is a cult...
Keep repeating that!!

Granny, they could have done it back in 1956 too...

I think that the disgust that was evident in Arnie's vioce has a lot to do with the fact that nothing severe has happened to the myriad list of flagrant violators -- even though (as the Pope himself said), their misdeeds are often at the level of true crimes.
As a Mom, I knew that swift punishment was a reliable deterrent. Sending Maciel to a "life of prayer" was tantamount to sending him to his room. Sending my child to his room was the first step -- not the last. As we've seen, he spat on that directive, holding court in his opulent "prison."
We are all holding our breath hoping that "heads will roll" this time. Anything short of that will be a true travesty of justice.

Good interview. I liked what you said about the steps being taken to bring people along, and your strong expression of support for Benedict.

Who the heck is the interviewer? Sounds like a faithful & informed Catholic, of all things.

Thank you Giselle. Very great interview. So good to hear your voice!

Excellent job, Giselle. You articulated your points very succinctly and clearly. It added quite a bit to my understanding of the cult-like aspects of RC, and your summary of the recent communique (esp. the last point) was spot on. Hopefully this airtime will go far in assisting the understanding of the LC and RC here in the US - if not by the membership itself (I'm not THAT hopeful!) then by those who need to make decisions about their participation in Mission Network programs or even whether to allow them onto diocesan property.

Giselle - great interview! Would be great for LC/RC to listen in on it - you charitably and honestly explained the serious problems with Maciel and his methodology and how it crept into the Church. You explained so well the truth about Pope B and how he systematically has taken steps since his pontificate to end this myth, slowly allow the beautiful Catholic lay and religious inside to have freedom to move on.
Thank you for your diligence in making the truth known. You surely are one of the many the Pope spoke of in his communique:
"It is to them (abuse victims), at this time, that the thoughts and prayers of the Holy Father go, along with his gratitude to the many who, even in the midst of great hardships, had the courage and perseverance to demand the truth."
